As I listen to the internet for great marketing insight sometimes I come across some really good free content. This week I found a gold mine from Neil Patel. Neil has been in the SEO game for a long time and has experienced plenty of ups and downs when it comes to SEO.

He clearly knows what he’s doing and he is sharing a mother-load of free content that will help anyone with SEO.

Here is an example of the content you’ll find over in the this blog post.

Statistics from Optimized Landing Pages

  • 58% of the websites had photos of their team, staff, or building
  • 38% has some kind of Call to Action (major opportunity here!! You ABSOLULTELY SHOULD INCLUDE A CALL TO ACTION)
  • 34% had listings with a Google Map
  • 19% had testimonials
  • 12% had authority symbols like logos
  • 8% had keywords in the H1 tag

A Well Planned Local Landing Page Should Include:

  • Location hours, including special hours for holidays or hours that may differ for specific departments
  • A map with a pin indicating the store’s location
  • A “get directions” CTA button underneath the map
  • Nearby locations information about this location including name, address, and phone number tagged properly with Schema markup
  • Photo content can be used to showcase the store itself as well as the most popular products or services.

Remember, based on the type of business you are the information you display should be relevant. A local pub might display the various beers they have on tap compared to a local gym or clothing store sharing things that are pertinent to their category.

Should You Start A Marketing Agency Now?

Good question, huh? The world is a crazy place right now and common sense or what you see on the news might tell you this isn’t the best time to start a marketing agency.

However, I’d like to you think about this. Other than the news, have you ever heard anyone talk about the 1918 Spanish Flu Outbreak? How about the 1957 H2N2 Flu Virus here in the United States? 116,000 Americans died from the H2N2. That is very close to where we are now with COVID-19. I didn’t know about the 1957 outbreak until now.

Why does that matter that I don’t remember this and no one I’ve talked to ever mentions it. It matters because we move on with life. Our economy moves on. And guess what… we’ll move on from COVID-19.

So, in my opinion, if starting a marketing agency is what you want to do, then right now might be the best time.

We will recover from this pandemic, so starting your marketing agency now would give you some time to get ready for the recovery.
